Biography of Kenneth W. Boswell

Kenneth Boswell has served in the Enterprise city government since 2000; first, as Councilman for District Five and as mayor since December 2003.  He is a champion of his community and is a strong supporter of economic growth through a healthy existing business community and the recruitment

of new business and industry.  He works closely with the Alabama Development Office and the Enterprise Coffee Geneva Economic Development Corporation and Enterprise continues to experience a time of economic growth that is adding jobs through both the expansion of existing companies and the location of new businesses to the area.

     

Kenneth Boswell was born in Elba, Alabama, and as a teenager, worked with the Elba Packing Company and Dorsey Trailers.  In January 1978, he began serving with the Alabama Army National Guard and later that year began his career in Insurance in Enterprise.  In early 1980, he and his wife Melinda purchased their first home in Enterprise.

 

Kenneth has taken various continuing education courses pursuant to his profession as an insurance agent.  Boswell Insurance Agency, Inc. has won many awards including four of the prestigious Ring-Of-Honor.  Through his success in the insurance profession, he has been awarded many trips to locations throughout the world.

     

In 2003, he was selected as “Volunteer of the Year” by the Enterprise Chamber of Commerce and named “Man of the Year” by the Enterprise Pilot Club.  In 2006, he was appointed by the Governor to the Advisory Council on Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention for the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs and named “Individual/Professional of the Year” by the Coffee/Geneva County Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities, an affiliate of the Alabama Governor’s Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities. 

     

He serves on the Enterprise Planning Commission, Enterprise Airport Authority, and Enterprise Employees Benefits Committee, Enterprise Water Works Board, Enterprise Coffee Geneva Economic Development Corporation Board, Salvation Army Board of Directors, Wiregrass Rehabilitation Center Board, Southeast Alabama Planning and Zoning Board, Southeast Alabama Council on Aging.  He is currently serving as Chairman of the Southeast Alabama Gas District Board.  He serves as the President of the 2nd Congressional District Municipal Association.  He also serves as an Ex-Officio Board member of the Enterprise Chamber of Commerce.  He is a past President of AUSA.

 

In 2004, he became a Certified Municipal Official.  In 2006, he received an Advanced Municipal Official Designation through the Alabama League of Municipalities and a Certified Alabama Planning and Zoning Official through the Alabama Planning Institute, the University of North Alabama and the Alabama Chamber of the American Planning Association.

 

Kenneth is a 1977 graduate of the Elba, Alabama City School System.  He is married to the former Melinda K. Modlin of New Brockton, Alabama.  He and Melinda have been married 29 years and have one daughter, Alane.  His parents are the late Johnny and Annis Boswell of Elba, Alabama.
