Fire Safety House and Fire Safety Education

On June 26, 1993 the Enterprise Fire Department used, for the first time, the Fire Safety House to show a Fire Safety Presentation. Through efforts and donations of many area businesses and members of the Enterprise Fire Department, a Fire Safety House was constructed on a cut down frame from a mobile home. This Fire Safety House has a Classroom, a bedroom and a control room or smoke room as some call it where participants are presented a Fire Safety Program and shown how smoke detectors work and how they sound. Also participants are treated to a bedroom fire simulation where a non-toxic smoke is generated in a clear room till visibility is low and shown proper exiting procedures in case of a real fire.

The Fire Safety House is used now on a regular basis to present the Fire Safety Program primarily to Kindergarteners and First Graders at all Schools in the City of Enterprise, especially during Fire Prevention Month. The Fire Safety House is also suitable to be used at shopping centers to show the Fire Safety Program to all ages. Entire families are encouraged to attend these presentations together. Fire Safety Tips and Evacuation plans are also discussed during these presentations.
